Project overview Infrastructure development at the Samanko PHTC*, a large-scale agricultural cooperative located near Bamako, as a joint grain (maize and rice) aggregation and distribution hub, including construction of storage warehouses, a training facility, provision of equipment and materials, and the rehabilitation of water storage facilities. In the 10 member villages, the project supported the installation of simple irrigation systems for dry-season vegetable cultivation, and the provision of equipment for composting and agricultural storage.
Utilizing the installed facilities, training sessions were conducted for agricultural extension agents and cooperative farmers on environmentally friendly horticulture practices, promotion of market-oriented agriculture through the SHEP approach, support for introducing nutrition-sensitive cooking methods, and the processing/commercialization of nutrient-rich supplementary foods.
