After setbacks to abundance: Kole farmer finds success in soybean

Esther Apio, a 40-year-old farmer from Kole District, Alito Sub- County, faced persistent losses in her poultry farming for years, driving her to shift towards soybean farming, which seemed promising as she could harvest in six months. However, prolonged drought stress caused her surviving bean pods to shatter, leading to grain waste and loss of income.

SAA promotes Aflasafe in tackling aflatoxin contamination

One-Stop Center Associations breaks ground in Uganda

On May 29, 2023, SAA organized a groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of One Stop Center Associations (OSCAs) for two Multipurpose Agricultural Cooperatives in Uganda. Japan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs is funding the establishment of the centers in the northeastern districts of Kole and Napak. Partners and local government officials attended the ceremony.

SAA’s Board Chair meets Uganda’s Minister of State for Agriculture

SAA Board Chair, Prof. Ruth Oniang’o, visited Uganda from February 12 – 17, 2023 to meet and exchange ideas with its national partners. One of the key meetings was with the Minister of State for Agriculture, Hon. Bwino Fred Kyakulaga, held at the Nakyesesa Agricultural Institute in Namulonge
