On Friday, August 20, 2025, from 10:00 to 11:30, a TICAD9 official side event was held at PACIFICO Yokohama. Titled "Building Sustainable, Resilient and Inclusive Food Systems and Local Economies in Africa anchored in the Blue Economy and Agriculture," the event was organized by the Sasakawa Peace Foundation (SPF) in cooperation with the Sasakawa Africa Association (SAA).

Kano State Government and SAA Sign $12.3 Million Deal to Boost Agricultural Mechanisation

The Kano State Government and the Sasakawa Africa Association (SAA)-Nigeria have signed a $12.3 million Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish mechanisation centres across the state and provide farmers access to improved agricultural equipment and reduce the drudgery associated with agriculture in the state.

Catalysing Rural Transformation through the CCBF Model: Insights from the 2025 SAA Annual Stakeholders’ Workshop

On 15th May 2025, the SAA hosted its Annual Stakeholders’ Workshop at the Golden Tulip Hotel in Kampala, convening over 120 participants under the theme “Catalysing Inclusive Rural Transformation in Uganda: CCBFs Advancing Youth Employment, Nutrition-Sensitive Agriculture, Regenerative Practices, and Market Access at the Last Mile.”

SAA President Shuichi Suzuki’s First Visit to Ethiopia: Advancing Sustainable Agriculture and Climate Resilience

From 18 to 26 June, a team from the Sasakawa Africa Association (SAA), including President Mr. Shuichi Suzuki, HQ Advisor Prof. Itagaki, Strategic Partnerships Director Dr. Mel Oluoch, Ethiopia Country Director Dr. Fentahun Mengistu, and other guests, visited key project sites in Ethiopia to observe field-level interventions aimed at strengthening smallholder agriculture and climate resilience. This marked President Suzuki’s first visit to Ethiopia since assuming office.

On June 26, 2025, Dr. Stella Kabiri, Lead Specialist for Regenerative Agriculture at the Sasakawa Africa Association (SAA), participated as a speaker at the international symposium “African Agriculture and the Utilization of Japan’s Newest Technology in the Era of Global Climate Change,” held at the Yayoi Auditorium of the University of Tokyo.
